School council members work together to support and enhance student learning. They provide a way for members of the community to consult with and offer advice to principals and school boards.

Download the PowerSchool App

Did you know there is a PowerSchool app? Download PowerSchool Mobile today on your Apple or Android device to stay connected with similar information available on the PowerSchool website. The same app can be used by both parents and students. You’ll have real-time access to attendance, upcoming assignments, grades and more. Sign-up for push notifications to stay up to date.

Links to download PowerSchool Mobile are available from the PowerSchool parent or student portals or directly from the App Store or Google Play. Use the Elk Island Public Schools district code, HXWF, and your PowerSchool portal username and password to login to the app. The first time you login, or if you haven’t used the app in a while, it may take three to five minutes for the app to load completely as it accesses all of your data from the PowerSchool server.

The PowerSchool Parent and Student portals are now accessible at all EIPS schools using your mobile devices and connecting to the school guest wireless networks. The PowerSchool portal allows access to Flex scheduling as well as other PowerSchool information.

Included in this email is information on the Student portal as well as how to access your Powerschool information using your iPad or iPhone and the downloadable application. The Apple IOS and Android applications on first login can take up to 5 minutes to login.  This is due to a large amount of data being downloaded to the mobile device and not because of a slow wireless or Internet connection.

You can connect to the Parent or Student portal by going to https://powerschool.eips.ca/public and logging in with your assigned user ID and password.

Sync the School Calendar to Your Personal Calendar
Did you know you can sync the school calendar to your own personal calendar? Just visit http://rudolphhennig.ca/about/calendar and click on one of the following calendar options you want to subscribe to:

• Add to Google Calendar
• Subscribe to Calendar (Outlook)
• Download iCal

NOTE: Using a mobile device, these options are located above the calendar. Using a computer, these options are located below the calendar.

Once you click on the calendar option you want to subscribe to, simply follow the instructions that appear on your computer screen or mobile device. Within seconds, your personal calendar will contain all of our important dates including holidays, school-closure dates, school activities and events, and more.

To enhance communication between families and schools, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) has developed a how-to guide entitled, “Communication Protocol for Schools.” Topics include appropriate channels to use, standard formats and structures, timing and sequencing for regular and ongoing home-school communication, and ways to bring forward questions or concerns. Additionally, the manual offers useful tools and resources schools and families can use to enhance face-to-face meetings, emails and any social media efforts.
